Lydia is a PhD in Law Candidate and Visiting Lecturer at King's College London, as well as a Qualified Lawyer at the Athens Bar Association. Her research focuses on Corporate Debt Restructuring and is supported by the Onassis and A.G. Leventis Foundations' scholarships. She holds an LL.M. in Commercial Law from the University of Cambridge (2016) and an LL.B. from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece (Valedictorian 2015 & State Scholarships Foundation Scholar). She has also completed summer courses at the London School of Economics and the European Public Law Organization.
Lydia has worked in the legal, banking and corporate services sectors (White & Case LLP, European Banking Federation, Eurobank Ergasias S.A, PricewaterhouseCoopers), at the diplomatic service of the Hellenic Parliament, as well as at the European Commission participating in the team that negotiated the adoption of the Proposal for a Directive on preventive restructuring frameworks and second chance (now Directive (EU) 2019/1023).
Lydia is the holder of the 'Stichting Bob Wessels Insolvency Law Collection' First Prize for the presentation of her PhD research, entitled “Viability Test in a European Corporate Debt Restructuring Framework”.
Lydia is an active member of leading professional associations for restructuring and insolvency specialists in both the US and the EU, including the American Bankruptcy Institute, INSOL International, INSOL Europe, the Insolvency Lawyers’ Association (UK) and the International Women's Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation.
Lydia has co-authored in the book “Non-Performing Loans and Resolving Private Sector Insolvency: Experiences from the EU Periphery and the Case of Greece” (Palgrave MacMillan, August 2017). She has also been a contributor in the "World Bank Doing Business 2019" Report regarding Belgian Insolvency Law. She is fluent in English, French, German and Greek.
